Fresh from finishing his election campaign in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent Tuesday morning on a football pitch in Gangtok, joining a group of local youngsters for a kickabout. Swapping his usual attire for football gear, the Prime Minister appeared to be in high spirits as he took part in the session against the scenic backdrop of the Sikkimese capital.
Reflecting on the morning’s activity, Modi described the experience as "energising," noting that there was nothing quite like playing the sport with his "young friends" on such a pleasant morning. The impromptu match provided a brief moment of recreation following a heavy political schedule in the neighbouring state.
The Prime Minister had arrived in Gangtok on Monday to attend the closing ceremony of Sikkim’s 50th Statehood Day celebrations. His visit marks a significant milestone for the state, as it commemorates half a century since joining the Indian Union.
