Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Punjab on February 1. As per the official release, he will reach Adampur Airport at around 3:45 pm, where he will rename it as Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Airport, Adampur. He will also inaugurate the terminal building at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana.

The renaming of Adampur Airport coincides with the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji. The move honours the revered saint and social reformer, whose teachings on equality, compassion, and human dignity continue to guide India’s social values.

Further strengthening aviation infrastructure in Punjab, the Terminal Building at Halwara Airport, to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister, will act as a new gateway for Ludhiana and nearby industrial and agricultural regions. Halwara, situated in Ludhiana district, also houses a strategically important Indian Air Force station.

To improve air connectivity and allow larger aircraft to operate, a new civil enclave has been built at Halwara with an extended runway capable of handling A320-type aircraft.

The terminal includes several green and energy-efficient features, such as LED lighting, insulated roofing, rainwater harvesting systems, sewage and water treatment plants, and the use of recycled water for landscaping.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Punjab president Sunil Jakhar announced that the Prime Minister will also visit Dera Ballan on February 1. He termed the visit significant, saying it reflects the Prime Minister’s respect for Guru Ravidas and the sentiments of the people of Punjab.

Jakhar said the visit coincides with the presentation of the Union Budget, highlighting the importance the Prime Minister gives to faith and reverence. He urged other political leaders to view the visit in the spirit of devotion, respect, and sensitivity, rather than through a political lens.
