The special court of Ranchi PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) today rejected the petition filed by ED, in which the Central agency had requested the court not to allow the State government to give any department to IAS officer and money laundering accused Pooja Singhal.

The Enforcement Directorate had filed a petition in the court saying that if the state government gives the responsibility of any department to Pooja Singhal, she can influence the case by misusing her position.

However, after hearing arguments of both sides the court held that the State government has the right to give posting to Pooja Singhal and the court will not interfere in it.

Notably, IAS officer Pooja Singhal, accused in the MGNREGA scam, was arrested by the Central investigating agency ED on 11 May 2022. Earlier on May 5, 2022, ED raided 25 locations of Pooja Singhal.

In the raids, ED got important information about unaccounted money and investments in other places. During the ED raid, cash worth Rs 19.31 crore was recovered from the residence and office of Singhal's CA Suman Singh.

Singhal was released from jail on 7th December, 2024 under the BNS Act. Following the legal provisions, her suspension was revoked after she was released from jail on bail. Currently, the government has appointed Singhal as Information and Technology Department Secretary in Jharkhand.
