Tension gripped Taraori on Wednesday evening after a police team was attacked during a raid in search of narcotics.
The incident left Sub-Inspector Rohtash seriously hurt, while the accused managed to escape. According to officials, a Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) team had gone to raid a house suspected of indulging in drug-related activities.
As soon as the team entered, a group of people, including family members and relatives, allegedly attacked them with sticks and sharp weapons. In the clash, SI Rohtash suffered multiple injuries. He was first taken to the government hospital and later shifted to a private hospital, where he is under treatment.
The attackers reportedly tried to block the police from carrying out their duty. A case was registered against the accused under charges of attempted murder and obstructing officials on duty. The accused fled soon after the attack.
Police launched a massive combing operation in the area. Several suspects have already been detained for questioning, officials said.
Sub-Inspector Karambir of Taraori police confirmed, “We have registered a case against 10–12 people for attempted murder and for creating obstacles in the way of government officials on duty. Several suspects have been rounded up, and further investigation is underway".
