President of India Droupadi Murmu reached Ranchi on Sunday under her pre-announced itinerary, with authorities enforcing stringent security measures across the capital city.
The President was welcomed by Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren at the Airport. The Birsa Munda Airport and surrounding areas were placed under heightened surveillance, while police and administrative teams maintained a state of full preparedness along major routes.
After her arrival, the President was escorted from the airport to Lok Bhawan in a tightly guarded convoy. Senior officials from the police and civil administration accompanied the movement, and traffic flow was closely regulated with additional personnel deployed at sensitive points.
The state administration has been actively preparing for the President’s stay in Jharkhand, during which she is scheduled to participate in several official engagements and meetings.
Attention has now shifted to Jamshedpur, which is set to host the President on December 29 as part of her three-day tour. During her visit to the Steel City, President Murmu will attend the concluding function of the centenary celebrations of the Ol Chiki script at Jaherthan in Karandih and later preside over the 15th convocation ceremony of NIT Jamshedpur.
In anticipation of the visit, the city has been visually transformed with cultural displays and traditional artwork. Prominent roads, including the stretch from Sonari Airport to Kadma Link Road and areas near the district headquarters, have been decorated with Sohrai-Khovar tribal paintings showcasing Jharkhand’s indigenous heritage.
Given the President’s programme, security arrangements in Jamshedpur and nearby areas have been further intensified. The district administration, working in coordination with police and intelligence agencies, has designated the routes from the airport to event venues as highly secured corridors.
Multiple layers of security personnel, along with bomb disposal units, dog squads and surveillance teams, have been stationed at strategic locations.
To safeguard the airspace, a temporary no-fly zone has been enforced over Jamshedpur and adjoining subdivisions from 6 pm on December 28 until the completion of the visit.
Additional forces have been deployed from neighbouring districts, while officials have carried out inspections along key routes to eliminate potential hazards and ensure smooth passage of the presidential convoy. Industrial establishments have also been advised to adjust working hours to minimise traffic congestion.
