Properties worth ₹4-cr attached under NDPS Act in drug cases

Officials said the attached assets include a residential house, parcels of land and several commercial shops. During the investigation, it was learnt that the properties were acquired illegally through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trafficking. Based on these findings, attachment proceedings were initiated under the relevant provisions of the law.

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday attached properties worth around Rs 4 crore belonging to an alleged drug peddler in Srinagar as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, officials said.

 

According to officials, Police Station Sangam attached properties valued at approximately Rs 3 crore belonging to Ghulam Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, in a case related to FIR No. 14/2026 registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act.

 

Officials said the attached assets include a residential house, parcels of land and several commercial shops. During the investigation, it was learnt that the properties were acquired illegally through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trafficking. Based on these findings, attachment proceedings were initiated under the relevant provisions of the law.


In a separate development, Police Station Nowhatta also attached a residential property estimated to be worth around Rs 1 crore belonging to Mohd Shafi Sheikh, son of Late Mohd Subhan Sheikh, in connection with FIR No. 09/2018 registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act.

 

Investigators revealed that the property had allegedly been constructed using proceeds from the illegal drug trade. The action was initiated against the accused and his property was seized by the authorities on Monday.

 

Jammu and Kashmir police’s anti-narcotics crackdown continues to dismantle the drug trafficking networks operating in the region. The police have also urged residents to join hands in the collective fight against drug abuse towards building a better prosperous society.
