Around 17 people, including 10 children, fell ill after consuming food served at a langar (community kitchen) organised at a temple in Binewal village, Punjab, an official confirmed on Saturday.
The affected individuals reportedly began experiencing symptoms such as abdominal cramps and vomiting on Friday evening, raising concerns of possible food poisoning.
According to Dr. Santokh, Senior Medical Officer at the Civil Hospital in Garhshankar, the patients were initially taken to the community health centre in Binewal after they started feeling unwell.
However, due to the severity of their symptoms, they were later referred to the Civil Hospital in Garhshankar for further medical attention.
Medical staff at the hospital have been closely monitoring the condition of all affected individuals. Fortunately, all patients are reported to be out of danger, and their health is showing signs of improvement.
Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the illness, and further investigation may be conducted to identify any possible contamination in the food served at the langar.
