A Mohali court has convicted Jalandhar-based pastor Bajinder Singh in a sexual assault case involving a woman from Zirakpur. The verdict was announced on Friday, and the court has scheduled April 1 for sentencing.

Bajinder Singh, a self-proclaimed faith healer known for claiming to cure ailments through miracles, was accused of sexually assaulting a woman.

The case was registered after the victim lodged a complaint with Zirakpur police, alleging misconduct at his Jalandhar-based church, "The Church of Glory and Wisdom."

According to the complaint, Singh allegedly began sending inappropriate messages to the woman, called her alone to his office, and engaged in unwanted advances. Following the allegations, the police registered a case against him and six others under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

After appearing in court on Monday, the verdict was reserved before the judge declared him guilty on Friday.

The footage, reportedly recorded on February 14, quickly went viral. The victim in the video, a Mohali resident, had been employed at his organisation.

Following the allegations, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed by Kapurthala police to probe the case further. The woman's statements were recorded as part of the investigation.

The court is set to announce the quantum of punishment on April 1, determining Bajinder Singh’s fate in the case.
