Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday paid tribute to the CRPF personnel who lost their lives in the Pulwama terror attack in 2019. They said the country will always remember the sacrifice of the brave soldiers.
In a post on his social media handle, Mann wrote in Punjabi, "We pay our heartfelt tribute to all the martyrs who laid down their lives in the Pulwama terror attack. Our nation will forever remember the sacrifice of these brave soldiers."
Haryana Chief Minister Saini also paid homage to the fallen CRPF personnel. He said the supreme sacrifice of “Mother India’s brave sons” stands as a strong symbol of the nation’s unity, security and resolve. He added that their courage and patriotism continue to inspire people to stand united against terrorism.
On February 14, 2019, 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and five others were injured in one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. A suicide bomber rammed his vehicle carrying more than 100 kg of explosives into their bus in Pulwama district.
A few days later, India carried out a retaliatory strike, which later came to be known as the Balakot airstrike.
