In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Amritsar Rural Police have seized 4.5 kg of heroin, valued at over Rs 30 crore, in two major operations.
As part of these operations, the police have also apprehended seven individuals linked to the smuggling network.
Acting on confidential intelligence, law enforcement officials launched the operation after learning about an impending drug consignment supply. During interrogation, the arrested individuals disclosed their connection to an international drug syndicate, shedding light on the extensive network involved in illicit drug trade.
Further investigations revealed that the accused were associated with Gurdeep, also known as Rano, a key operator within the syndicate.
Gurdeep had already been taken into custody under the PIT NDPS Act. Authorities have intensified their probe to track down other members of the network, aiming to dismantle the entire drug syndicate and curb the illegal drug trade in the region.
