A 26-year-old Indian-origin man was stabbed to death in Southall, London, by unknown assailants, officials said. As per reports, the incident took place earlier this week, and the Metropolitan Police confirmed late on Saturday evening (IST).
The deceased has been identified as Gurbhej Singh.
According to investigators, the incident occurred on North Road, near the junction with Dormers Wells Lane.
Gurbhej succumbed to serious fatal wounds, while another person also suffered serious injuries during the incident and has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
The identity of the second victim is yet to be released by the police.
A case has been registered by the Metropolitan Police, and further investigation is underway. It is unclear whether the attack was racially motivated or a random act.
Gurbhej Singh, 26, originally from Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, was stabbed in Southall and died despite emergency efforts. Seven men were arrested in connection with the case.
Six have been released without charge, while one remains on bail as police continue to appeal for witnesses and CCTV footage.
Meanwhile, Singh’s family, facing financial strain, has sought help from the government and NGOs to bring his body back to India.
