Pastor Bajinder Singh, a self-styled Christian preacher from Punjab who is facing a sexual harassment case, has once again come under public scrutiny after a video of him allegedly slapping a woman and a man surfaced on social media.
The video, purportedly captured on February 14 through CCTV footage, shows Singh engaged in a heated argument with a woman before throwing a bunch of papers at her and slapping her. He is also seen allegedly slapping a man multiple times in the same footage.
Singh, 42, had earlier been booked on February 28 following a complaint from a 22-year-old woman accusing him of sexual harassment.
In response to the allegations, the Punjab Police had formed a three-member special investigation team (SIT) to probe the matter. Additionally, the Punjab State Women Commission took suo-motu cognizance of the case and directed authorities to provide security to the complainant.
Despite the recent video's circulation, police officials have stated that they have not received any formal complaint related to this incident. They are currently in the process of verifying the video's authenticity, including its location and the exact time of occurrence.
Singh, who became a preacher in 2012, runs two churches, "The Church of Glory and Wisdom" in Tajpur, Jalandhar, and another in Majri, Mohali. His followers claim that his church has multiple branches across India and abroad.
The church holds large congregations, attracting people seeking faith-based healing, which are broadcast live on YouTube through the channel "Prophet Bajinder Singh," boasting 3.74 million subscribers.
