Punjab police arrest 476, recover drugs, stolen items worth lakhs

Punjab Police arrested 476 people in Khanna during Operation Prahar 3.0, seizing drugs, arms, stolen vehicles and illicit liquor in a major crackdown.


Punjab Police’s Operation Prahar 3.0 against criminals, narco syndicates and gangsters involved in the illicit trade has yielded significant results in Khanna with the arrest of 476 persons in 24 hours.

As per official updates, police authorities arrested 326 under substantive cases and 111 under preventive cases, while 10 other proclaimed offenders and four gangsters were also arrested in the ongoing operations. Officials reported the recovery of contraband and stolen items from the possession of the criminals booked until 4 pm on Saturday.

The police seized 247.6 gm of heroin, 3 kg of ganja, 1.4 kg of opium, 100 kg of poppy husk, and 380 banned tablets/capsules. Cash worth Rs 13,250 linked to the drug trade was also recovered, they said.

Police also recovered five stolen two-wheelers, one stolen four-wheeler, eight stolen trucks, four stolen mobiles, and one silver chain.

Excise teams seized 153 litres of liquor along with 160 empty bottles of high-end brands used for filling local spurious liquor. Gambling money amounting to Rs 6,320 was also confiscated in joint action, they said.

Additionally, in the arms and ammunition category, the police recovered two .32 bore pistols, four cartridges, and three datars/knives.

Officials said a local gang involved in procuring empty bottles of premium liquor brands and filling them with low-quality liquor was also busted and dismantled during the joint operation.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Khanna range, Dr Darpan Ahluwalia, said a campaign against online content and social media handles promoting and glorifying violence and arms has been forwarded to the State Cyber Crime Cell for immediate blocking and removal.

The ongoing Operation Prahar 3.0 continues to focus on maintaining law and order, curbing the drug menace and targeting organised criminal activities in the region.
