Punjab Police announced on Sunday that they had dismantled a trans-border narco-smuggling network with the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of 6 kg of heroin.
The operation, carried out by Tarn Taran Police, led to the arrest of Hardeep Singh, also known as Deep, and Harjeet Singh, both residents of Thathi Sohal in Tarn Taran district.
According to preliminary investigations, the contraband was supplied by smugglers based in Pakistan. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, in a statement on X, confirmed the successful crackdown on the smuggling network and highlighted the involvement of cross-border operatives.
The DGP further revealed that both arrested individuals have prior criminal records. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover further links in the smuggling network.
Reaffirming the Punjab Police’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking, Yadav assured that law enforcement agencies are actively working to dismantle drug cartels and make the state drug-free.
