Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who recently asserted that his party has understood the modus operandi of the "votes theft" by researching a Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka, will take part in a protest in Bengaluru on August 4 and submit a representation to the Election Commission officials.

In the midst of the ferocious controversy surrounding Bihar's electoral roll revision, the Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition, on July 23, alleged that polls are being "stolen" in India and asserted that his party has identified how the "votes theft" take place.

“Rahul Gandhi has also raised voice against misconduct in elections. He had mentioned that all those things had happened in Karnataka as well, so he is coming here to provide representation to the Election Commission officials. He is coming on August 4,” Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated.

Addressing the media, Parameshwara, explained that the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee would be staging a programme in this connection, after which a memorandum will be given to election authorities.

Party state president DK Shivakumar and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are finalising the plan. According to the tentative plan, Rahul Gandhi will speak to party workers at Freedom Park, after which he is expected to meet election authorities and hand over a memorandum," he added.

While observing that there are orders from the High Court in 2022 against organising any procession and protest in the city, the Home Minister informed that the programme will be arranged with it in mind. "There will not be any procession. Rahul Gandhi had a week ago said that he would state before the public and the Election Commission on how the "theft of votes" is being executed.

"In Karnataka, we have discovered 'bhayankar chori (huge theft)'. I will demonstrate it in black and white to you and the Election Commission. I will demonstrate in black and white how the 'chori' is being performed and from where. We have it in black and white in Karnataka," the former Congress president had asserted.

Following Gandhi’s statement, CM Siddaramaiah too had alleged that the Congress Party’s setback in the Lok Sabha polls in the state was due to “illegal manipulation” of the electoral process by the Bharatiya Janata Party through its misuse of the Election Commission, and the discussions were on with his party high command to decide the necessary course of action.

Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar are in New Delhi for two days, that is, on August 1 and 2 to participate in different events.

Today, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar will be attending the 'Bridge to Bengaluru' function organised by the IT/BT department as a pre-cursor to the Bengaluru Tech Summit in November this year. Diplomats from across the world are to attend this. They will be attending a programme by the Congress on the Constitution on August 2.
