Day temperatures across Haryana and Punjab stayed well below normal on Wednesday after heavy rainfall swept the region a day earlier. Chandigarh, the joint capital of both states, recorded a maximum temperature of 24.2 degrees Celsius, which was nine degrees below normal, as per the Meteorological Department.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 24.9 degrees Celsius, nearly seven degrees below normal. Ludhiana and Patiala registered highs of 26.7 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius respectively, both remaining significantly below usual levels.
Pathankot and Faridkot recorded maximum temperatures of 23.5 degrees and 26 degrees Celsius respectively. Hoshiarpur, Mohali, Bathinda and Ferozepur saw daytime temperatures of 23.6 degrees, 24.3 degrees, 26.2 degrees and 27.1 degrees Celsius respectively.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a maximum temperature of 24 degrees Celsius, more than nine degrees below normal. Hisar recorded a high of 29.2 degrees Celsius, around seven degrees below normal, while Karnal registered 25.7 degrees Celsius, nearly eight degrees lower than usual. Gurugram recorded a maximum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. Many areas of Punjab and Haryana had witnessed heavy rainfall on Tuesday.
