The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather advisory predicting rain and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir over the next two days, beginning March 26.
The forecast indicates a shift in weather patterns, particularly in the higher reaches of the region, following a generally dry and cloudy day on March 24.
According to the advisory, March 25 is expected to witness scattered light rain or snow over higher elevations, particularly in several districts of North and parts of Central Kashmir. The intensity of precipitation is expected to increase by the afternoon of March 26, bringing a spell of light to moderate rain and snowfall to many areas, mainly in North and Central Kashmir.
This wet spell is likely to persist until the evening of March 27, after which weather conditions are expected to improve significantly. From March 28 to April 3, dry and stable weather is anticipated across the region.
In light of the forecast, the MeT department has issued advisories for travelers, tourists, and transporters, urging them to plan their journeys accordingly and adhere to administrative and traffic guidelines for a smooth and safe travel experience.
Additionally, farmers have been advised to suspend agricultural operations during March 26-27 due to the likelihood of rain, snowfall, and possible thunderstorms with gusty winds in certain areas.
The recent spell of rain and snowfall has already brought much-needed relief to the region, breaking a prolonged dry period. While the higher reaches have received fresh snowfall, the plains have experienced moderate rainfall, improving overall weather conditions and replenishing water sources.
