Four people lost their lives, and eight others sustained injuries after a speeding lorry ploughed into bystanders assisting accident victims in Rajasthan's Dungarpur district on Saturday night, police said.
The incident occurred around 11.30 p.m. near the Pindawal Hilawadi bus stand under Sabla police station limits, where locals had gathered to help the injured after a jeep carrying a wedding party veered off the road.
"During the rescue efforts, a speeding lorry lost control and hit the people standing nearby. The impact of the accident was severe. Three motorcycles were trapped beneath the lorry," said Sabla Station House Officer (SHO) Raghuveer Singh.

According to the SHO, the jeep, returning from a wedding, had swerved off the road, leaving several passengers with minor injuries. As locals gathered to help, the truck first crashed into an electricity pole before hitting the crowd.
The injured were rushed to a hospital in Sagwara, where four people – Luvji Patidar, Dayalal Patidar, Savita Patidar, and Bhavesh Patidar – were declared dead.
The deceased were returning from a wedding and had stopped to assist the accident victims, Singh added.
The police are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the truck driver's loss of control.
