The encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district has turned into a massive search operation after terrorists managed to escape following an intense gunfight on Saturday, officials said on Sunday.
Security forces have intensified the search operation to track down the suspected terrorists believed to be still hiding in the area. The encounter began on Saturday after security forces established contact with terrorists around 11:30 am, leading to a fierce firefight.
The operation in the Dorimal-Gambhir Moghla belt was later extended. “Search operations have been intensified in the Dorimal-Gambhir Moghla area and the cordon has been strengthened,” officials said.
More reinforcements have been rushed to the area to assist in the search for the suspected terrorists. A joint team of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had launched a massive cordon-and-search operation on Saturday following specific inputs about terrorists’ movement.
Officials believe that two to three militants are still active in the area.
Meanwhile, security forces also launched a search operation in the Gudha Brahmana area of Akhnoor in Jammu district after receiving information about suspicious movement.
