Uttar Pradesh floods have hit 402 villages in 37 tehsils, affecting 84,392 individuals, an official release announced on Sunday.
47,906 individuals have been given aid, Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami said.
A total of 17 districts — "including Kanpur Nagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Agra, Auraiya, Chitrakoot, Ballia, Banda, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Chandauli, Jalaun, Kanpur Dehat, Hamirpur, Etawah and Fatehpur — "are struggling with the effects of flooding. Relief and rescue efforts are being carried out in full force, with ongoing patrolling by National Disaster Relief Force, State Disaster Relief Force and Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel.
While 343 houses have already been destroyed by the floods, 327 families have so far received compensation. More than 4,015 hectares of land have been inundated, according to the statement, which added that relief items are being distributed through 493 boats and motor boats.

To assist the affected ones, 6,536 food packets and 76,632 lunch packets have been disbursed up to now. Additionally, 29 community kitchens (langars) have been established to offer freshly cooked meals to the affected individuals.
905 flood shelters are being operated at present, which have 11,248 homeless persons accommodated. 757 health teams are providing medical check-ups, and 1,193 flood posts have been deployed to keep a check on the changing scenario, the statement further stated.
