The Himachal Pradesh State Election Commission on Monday announced the election schedule for the Rohru Municipal Council and the Narkanda Nagar Panchayat. Polling in both civic bodies will be held on May 22.
Following the announcement, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force with immediate effect in the two local bodies.
According to the schedule, nomination papers will be filed on May 5, 6 and 7. Scrutiny of nominations will be conducted on May 8. Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations till 3 pm on May 11, and election symbols will also be allotted on the same day.
Polling will take place from 7 am to 3 pm on May 22. Counting of votes will begin immediately after polling concludes, and the results are likely to be declared the same day.
Earlier, the Commission had announced polls for 51 municipal bodies across the state, with polling fixed for May 17. However, elections in Rohru and Narkanda were deferred as the reservation roster for these two civic bodies had not been finalised at that time.
