Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of those who lost their lives in the fire that broke out in Rohtak's D-Park market.
Three people died and around ten shops were destroyed in the blaze, which swept through one of the city's oldest and busiest markets on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister expressed sorrow over the tragedy and extended his condolences to the bereaved families, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday.
Apart from the compensation for the deceased, the government has also announced Rs 2 lakh as financial assistance for each injured person. The injured will receive free treatment at government hospitals, the statement said.
Saini has directed the Rohtak Deputy Commissioner to assess the losses caused by the fire and submit a detailed report.
Officials said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.
