A heated political row broke out in Telangana’s Siddipet district this Monday following allegations that BRS MLA Kotta Prabhakar Reddy hoisted the national flag upside down. The incident took place during Republic Day celebrations at Gandhi Chowk in the Dubbaka Assembly constituency, immediately drawing fire from political opponents.
Local Congress leaders, who were quick to point out the error, claimed the tricolour was mounted so incorrectly that the Ashoka Chakra was displaced from its central position. They argued that such a lapse isn't just a mistake but a direct violation of the Flag Code of India, especially on a day meant to honor the country’s constitutional values.
The situation quickly moved from the streets to the police station. Congress workers filed a formal complaint at Dubbaka, demanding a full investigation and strict legal action. They argued that public representatives should be held to a higher standard and that such "gross negligence" serves as a poor example for the public and insults national pride.
The Dubbaka MLA and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi leadership have maintained a silence now on the matter, with no official statement released to clarify whether the incident was a technical oversight by the organisers or a lapse in supervision. While the police look into the complaint, the images of the flag have already sparked a wave of criticism across social media in the state.
