Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated the Haryana Pavilion at the World Expo-2025 in Osaka, Japan. While addressing the gathering, he said Haryana has an important role to play in the overall growth of India.
Saini noted that India is emerging as a strong global economic power, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a goal of making the country a $5-trillion economy. He added that Haryana is making a major contribution to this vision.
He said Haryana makes up only 1.34 per cent of India’s total area and 2.09 per cent of its population. Yet, the state has become one of the biggest drivers of India’s economic progress. Haryana ranks second in the country and first in North India in providing logistics support to industries. Gurugram, he said, houses offices of 400 Fortune companies.
The Chief Minister also highlighted Haryana’s role in the automobile sector. He said every second car running on Indian roads is manufactured in the state. Haryana also makes 52 per cent of India’s tractors. It ranks second in contributing to the Central Foodgrain Pool. In sports, too, Haryana continues to win the most medals in the Olympics and other global events.
Saini described Haryana as a land full of hope and opportunity. He said it is among the most prosperous states in the country and has become a major hub for automobiles, IT, and several other industries. The state is well-connected with modern infrastructure, highways, expressways, rail networks, metro rail, and advanced communication systems. Every district has access to a national highway.
He added that every village in Haryana has electricity. The state has developed a strong system of canals and other means for drinking water and irrigation. In education, Haryana has built many reputed institutions that offer modern education across various streams and subjects.
The Chief Minister also spoke about how the state government has created a strong system of Ease of Doing Business to encourage industrial growth. He said this has built entrepreneurs’ confidence and attracted both startups and MSMEs.
He informed that because of several incentive schemes, Haryana has become the first choice for domestic and international investors. Over the past 11 years, 7.66 lakh micro, small, and medium enterprises have been set up in the state, creating jobs for nearly 39 lakh people.
Saini said Haryana is now the 7th largest state in India in terms of startups, with 9,500 recognised startups. The government aims to make Haryana the top startup hub in the country. Gurugram has already grown into a global centre for IT services and startups. The state government has set a goal to triple the number of startups, and recently gave financial support of Rs 1.14 crore to 22 of them.
He announced that a “Fund of Funds” of Rs 2,000 crore is also being created to give financial backing to startups.
