Security has been tightened across Jharkhand ahead of the Budget Session 2026 of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, with the police headquarters issuing a high alert over possible threats to ministers and MLAs.

The headquarters has expressed apprehension that criminal gangs or Maoist groups may attempt to target public representatives while they travel to and from Ranchi to attend the session.

In this regard, all Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been alerted and directed to maintain heightened vigilance and adopt preventive measures.

The Inspector General (Operations) has instructed district police to deploy sufficient patrolling teams along probable routes of legislators, previously identified sensitive locations, and major road and rail corridors.

Officials have been directed to intensify route domination, area search operations, and vehicle checking drives to neutralise any potential threat in advance. Special surveillance has been ordered on several valley and forest stretches connecting Ranchi with other districts.

Additional security measures have also been directed for other vulnerable routes across the state.

Among the key instructions issued are continuous patrolling in sensitive valley and forest regions, deployment of Route Opening Parties (ROP), activation of local police and intelligence networks to monitor suspicious activities, road sanitisation prior to the movement of legislators’ convoys, and special night patrolling.

The police headquarters has made it clear that no security lapse will be tolerated during the Budget Session. District authorities have been asked to conduct local risk assessments, requisition additional forces if required, and seek support from central forces whenever necessary.

In the state capital Ranchi, security around the Assembly premises has also been strengthened, with intensified checking drives, barricading and enhanced CCTV surveillance to ensure that the session is conducted smoothly and peacefully.
