Security has been heightened across Jammu and Kashmir’s critical tourist hotspots, including the Tulip Garden, Dal Lake, Gulmarg and Pahalgam. The Union Home Secretary has ordered security forces to intensify efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region after last year’s Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

The enhanced deployment comes at a time when the tourism season in Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing a massive rush after the opening of the Tulip Garden in Srinagar. Measures like high-intensity patrolling and increased surveillance have been focused on major destinations, specifically the Tulip Garden, Dal Lake, Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Pahalgam.

Personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and other paramilitary units have been deployed in large numbers.
Nakas have been set up at key locations, with increased patrolling to ensure a secure environment for tourists.

The Jammu region is also witnessing a heavy rush of pilgrims heading towards Katra in Reasi district to offer prayers at the cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi, followed by visits to Patnitop, Bhaderwah and other tourist spots.

Tourist places that were closed after the Pahalgam terror attack have now been thrown open again after the strengthening of security measures across the region.

Addressing a gathering at the ‘Rajouri Day’ event in the border district, Major General Kaushik Mukherji said, “I assure you that our army is fully alert at the borders and ready to give a befitting response to every hostile act of the enemy.”

The Jammu and Kashmir government, along with the LG administration, has urged people to visit Kashmir in large numbers to immerse themselves in the beauty of the place.
