Odisha Director General of Police YB Khurania has chaired a high-level review meeting to oversee security arrangements ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s three-day visit to the state, scheduled from August 3 to 5. The security assessment focused on establishing comprehensive, multi-layered coverage along all travel routes and at venue locations.

During her stay, President Murmu is set to attend major events in Cuttack and Berhampur. A key leg of her itinerary on the morning of August 4 involves a train journey from Bhubaneswar Railway Station to Berhampur, followed by a visit to the Maa Kandhuni Devi shrine at the Taptapani Hot Spring in the Sanakhemundi block.

Confirming the security preparedness, DGP Khurania stated that extensive measures had been put in place to ensure a seamless visit. He asked the senior officers to conduct rigorous technical sweeps along the routes of movement and keep heightened alertness through the transportation network.

Due to the President’s travel by train, security of the railways has become a major priority. There have been police orders for conducting thorough patrol along the railway tracks, allotment of personal guards at all the railway crossings, and screening of the railway officials, who would be provided with special passes. The DGP has also emphasised the need for coordination of operations between Odisha police, Indian railways, and local administrative officials.
