In view of the proposed arrival of President Draupadi Murmu in Jamshedpur and NIT Jamshedpur (Adityapur), a meeting was held by the Secretary, Commercial Taxes Department (Jharkhand) Amitabh Kaushal and Inspector General of Police, Ranchi Manoj Kaushik with the concerned officials.

Jamshedpur has been placed under a comprehensive security cover as President Droupadi Murmu will reach Jharkhand on Sunday to attend official programmes, including the concluding ceremony of the centenary celebrations of the Ol Chiki script of the Santali language.

The district administration and police have enforced elaborate arrangements to ensure safety, smooth movement and uninterrupted conduct of the high-profile visit.

All routes connecting the airport, Circuit House and programme venues have been declared high-security zones. Senior officials from the district administration, police and intelligence agencies have carried out extensive ground-level reviews.

Multi-tier security deployment has been put in place, involving local police, special armed forces and intelligence personnel, supported by bomb disposal squads, dog squads and surveillance teams at strategic locations.

Traffic restrictions and diversions have been enforced across major stretches of the city in view of the President’s convoy movement. The entry of heavy vehicles has been temporarily restricted, and parking has been prohibited along designated routes and near programme venues.

The traffic police have issued advisories urging commuters to cooperate and use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.

As part of her official itinerary, President Murmu will attend the valedictory function of the centenary celebrations of the Ol Chiki script at the Jaherthan complex in Karandih, where she will be accorded a traditional welcome by local tribal artists.

The concluding ceremony is expected to be attended by around 1,000 participants, including delegates of the Santali Writers Association and representatives of the government and district administration.

During the programme, the President will felicitate eminent writers and social workers for their contributions to the promotion of the Santali language and the Ol Chiki script.

Governor Santosh Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren will also be present on the occasion. Emergency services have been kept on alert across the city to ensure that essential services and public movement remain unaffected during the President’s visit.
