Security forces on Saturday recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from a terrorist hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said.
It was during routine searches by a joint team of police and the army that the hideout was busted and the cache of arms and ammunition recovered, the sources told reporters.
In total, there were 14 rounds of AK rifles, six pistol rounds, three grenades, five pencil cells, a wire-cutter, a multi-data cable connector, a multi-purpose knife, an iron rod, and a paint box recovered by the search party.

The recovery comes at a time when security forces have intensified counterinsurgency operations against terrorist infrastructure in the Jammu division following two recent encounters in the Udhampur and Kishtwar districts that happened within a week of each other.
In one of the encounters, security forces had killed a top Jaish-e-Mohammad commander, Haider, alias Moulvi, during an encounter in the densely forested belt of the Basantgarh area.
Initially, reports had suggested there were "four terrorists" hiding in the area; however, three associates of Haider managed to flee from the site, triggering a massive search operation.
Subsequently, another encounter was reported in the Kishtwar area after security forces observed suspicious movement in the dense forests.
There were reports citing army sources saying that "at least one of three terrorists was injured in the encounter," although they too managed to flee the encounter site.
The army then continued its search with additional reinforcements including helicopters, sniffer dogs, and drones to track the assailants.
