As per latest estimates presented by top officials in recent media briefings, terrorism in the Kashmir valley has shrunk significantly in the past six years owing to intensified crackdowns and counterinsurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said there are only 8 active militants in Kashmir Valley compared with Jammu, where the number is over 8 times higher than in the Kashmir Valley.
This has been a success story of the Jammu and Kashmir police, which has recently cracked down on the terror ecosystem in the valley. Tens of properties have been seized in North, South, and Central Kashmir in 2025 alone.
