The SGPC general house meeting passed resolutions on Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Sikh institutions and Panthic unity.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) passed several key resolutions on religious and political issues during its general house meeting on Saturday.

The House also took up matters related to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the management of Sikh Takhts and the functioning of Sikh religious institutions.

Members passed a resolution seeking legal action against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the ongoing controversy linked to Sri Akal Takht Sahib. They alleged that the Chief Minister had failed to give a clear and satisfactory explanation on the issue.

The SGPC said Mann had lost the moral authority to remain in office and demanded his resignation. It also called for a criminal case to be registered against him and legal proceedings to be initiated.

The committee further alleged that government machinery had been misused and claimed that a "false laboratory report" was prepared in connection with the case. It said the truth had now come to light and pointed out that an FIR had already been registered in Haryana.

The committee urged the Sikh community to remain united under the leadership of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and to follow Sikh principles with discipline and commitment.

It announced that awareness campaigns would be organised across different constituencies to educate devotees about the directives issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Religious preaching teams will also be sent to encourage people to follow these directions.

The SGPC urged Sikh institutions, gurdwara committees and religious organisations to actively support and participate in the campaign.

The SGPC also opposed the Maharashtra government's decision to amend the 1956 Act governing Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib. It said any interference in the religious or administrative autonomy of one of the five Sikh Takhts would not be accepted. The committee urged the Maharashtra government to retain the original provisions of the 1956 Act.

The SGPC announced that a major Panthic gathering will be held on July 5 at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall to mark the foundation day of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
