SJVN, a Navratna CPSE (Central Public Sector Enterprise) based in Shimla, is advancing towards a greener future through eco-friendly initiatives under the leadership of Chairman & Managing Director Bhupender Gupta.
As part of ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ Pakhwada 2025, two Electric Solid Waste Management Vehicles were flagged off from the Mall Road, Shimla, in the presence of MLA, Shimla (Urban), Harish Janartha, and Director (Personnel), SJVN, Ajay Kumar Sharma. On this occasion, Bhupender Attri, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Shimla, along with senior officials of SJVN and MC Shimla, was also present.
Ajay Kumar Sharma informed that SJVN has extended financial support of Rs 25.44 lakh to the Municipal Corporation, Shimla, for procurement of two eco-friendly Electric Solid Waste Management Vehicles. “The deployment of these EVs will significantly strengthen Shimla’s cleanliness drive by enabling zero-emission garbage collection and contributing to improved air quality,” said Sharma.
The initiative is a part of ‘Clean Green Festivities - Eco-friendly and zero-waste celebrations’, one of the five key pillars of ‘Swacchotsav’, the theme of this year’s Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign. By supporting sustainable waste management solutions, SJVN reaffirms its commitment to environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility.
Under the aegis of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the 9th edition of ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ Pakhwada on the theme “Swachhotsav” commenced on September 17 and will culminate on October 2. The 15-day campaign aims to mobilis millions across the nation in a collective call to action for Swachhta.
