Navjot Singh Sidhu, a senior Congress official and former cricket player, has been embroiled in controversy over his statements about using home medicines to cure his wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, for cancer.
A legal notice demanding ₹850 crore has been issued to Navjot Kaur Sidhu by the Raipur Chhattisgarh Civil Society, seeking clarification on these statements.
Legal notice and concerns raised
Dr. Kuldeep Solanki, the convenor of the society, said that cancer patients in India and outside are now confused and skeptical of allopathy as a result of Sidhu's comments regarding diet-based cancer treatment.
Within seven days, the notice requests an apology or scientific proof. Legal action will ensue if these requirements are not fulfilled.
Navjot Singh Sidhu revealed a diet regimen on Monday, saying it was a major factor in Navjot Kaur Sidhu's recovery from cancer. He emphasised his faith in physicians, referring to them as "gods," and conveyed his appreciation for his wife's medical knowledge.
The medical community has sharply criticised Sidhu's statements. An recommendation from Tata Memorial Hospital disapproved of the use of home cures for cancer, including neem, turmeric, and dietary modifications.
The hospital stressed that no scientific evidence supports these methods and urged people to rely on professional medical treatment for cancer.
This development has sparked a heated debate across Punjab and other platforms closely following updates. The incident highlights the ongoing tension between alternative and conventional medicine in cancer treatment discussions.
