Sikkim will host its first-ever International Agro Tourism Festival from June 13 to 15, bringing together participants from India, Nepal and Bhutan in a bid to promote sustainable tourism, rural livelihoods and cross-border cultural exchange in the Himalayan region.
The three-day festival will be held across three districts and three constituencies of the state, showcasing Sikkim’s agro-tourism potential, agricultural strengths and rich rural heritage.
The event is being jointly organised by the Tourist Development Societies of Rhenock, Martam-Rumtek and Temi-Tarku constituencies.
Organisers said the festival aims to create new opportunities for farmers, entrepreneurs and tourism stakeholders while strengthening cultural and economic ties among communities in the eastern Himalayas.

Delegates, agricultural experts, tourism professionals and cultural groups from the three neighbouring countries are expected to participate in the event, which is being positioned as a platform for knowledge sharing and regional collaboration.
The festival will feature agro-tourism exhibitions, farm-based experiences, cultural performances, traditional cuisine and interactive discussions on rural tourism and sustainable development.
According to organisers, the event will also provide local communities with an opportunity to showcase their agricultural practices, indigenous products and tourism initiatives before an international audience.
The festival is expected to highlight the growing role of agro-tourism as a driver of rural economic development and community-based tourism in the state.
Organisers believe the initiative could emerge as a landmark event for Sikkim’s tourism sector by combining agriculture, culture and tourism while encouraging greater regional cooperation among Himalayan neighbours.
