The gathering, in which senior officers, station heads, and post commanders were present, highlighted the importance of constant vigil.

Security arrangements have been tightened in the rugged terrain of Doda with the Senior Superintendent of Police of the region, Sandeep Mehta, issuing fresh directives to this effect. Mehta reviewed the security scenario on Sunday and issued fresh directives to tighten the security net, especially in the tourist and religious destinations of the region, to thwart any attempt by anti-national elements to disrupt the stability of the region.

The gathering, in which senior officers, station heads, and post commanders were present, highlighted the importance of constant vigil. Mehta also pointed to the importance of the protection of the minority-populated areas.

To do this, Mehta instructed his teams to increase foot patrols and utilise long-range and short-range units. Checkpoints are also to be set up in strategic locations, as well as "surprise" roadstops, to ensure area domination and prevent antisocial behaviour.

Although the SSP advocated for a hardline stance against the remnants of the local terror ecosystem, including a strict watch on the associates, he also emphasised the need for maintaining a rapport with the public through community-based policing. Beyond counter-insurgency measures, the directive extends to civil crimes; officers have been told to crack down on narcotics trafficking and bovine smuggling. For habitual offenders, Mehta has authorised the initiation of property attachment proceedings to serve as a further deterrent against organised crime.
