The Himachal Pradesh government is making continuous efforts to improve the quality of education through systemic reforms, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said while inaugurating the new building of Panarsa Government College on Monday.

The college building, located in Mandi district, has been built at a cost of Rs 13.14 crore.

Speaking at the event, Sukhu said the purpose of opening new institutions should not be limited to constructing buildings but to make sure that students receive quality education, gain confidence, and are prepared to face future challenges.

He said education remains one of the top priorities of the state government.

Sukhu mentioned that English-medium education has been introduced from the first grade, and 100 schools are being set up across the state following the CBSE pattern, 40 of which have already received affiliation.

He said this initiative aims to provide quality education to children in rural areas.

The chief minister added that education could no longer rely only on traditional methods and that technology-based learning was vital to prepare students for the future.

He said the state government had also created a separate directorate for colleges and was working on structural reforms in higher education.

To ensure that every child gets access to modern and quality education, Sukhu said Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day-Boarding Schools have been opened in every assembly constituency. Pre-primary classes have also started in 6,297 primary schools across the state.

Sukhu announced that from the next academic session, B.Voc and BCA courses would start at Panarsa College on a self-financing basis to provide students with job-oriented education.
