A suspected Pakistani drone was sighted over a forward village along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Tuesday, officials said.
The drone-like object, with a flickering light, was seen hovering from the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir side into Indian territory in the Sunderbani sector late Monday night, they said.
Officials said the suspected drone returned after briefly entering Indian territory between Mahadev Gap and Kalal village. Alert security forces immediately launched a search operation at first light on Tuesday to check for any airdropped payloads, including narcotics or weapons.
However, nothing objectionable was recovered during the search operation, officials said.
Drone incursions along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC) have increased in recent times. There have been dozens of reported instances of Pakistani drones violating the LoC and the IB in the Poonch, Samba, and Rajouri districts.
