The Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) 2026 will commence on February 25, 2026. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) Secretary S Krishna Aditya announced that the State government has, in principle, agreed to a timetable for the intermediate exams, which will run from February 25 to March 18. A detailed schedule is expected shortly.

The intermediate practical exams will be held from the first week of February, and the Board will shortly issue a notification for the payment of exam fees, a process due to start from November 1.

Aditya confirmed that the Board has decided to introduce external practical exams in the first year of intermediate studies, a requirement that was previously only enforced in the second year.

Stating that the State government has approved a revision of the intermediate syllabus, Aditya said subject-wise expert committees, each headed by a university professor, would oversee the revamp based on the NCERT syllabus. This revision process will begin in the first week of November.

The science stream syllabus was last revised in the 2013-14 academic year, while the humanities curriculum was revamped across 2019-20 and 2020-21.

“This time, QR codes will be printed on each paper in the textbooks for digital learning and textbooks will come with non-tearable paper. We will complete textbook printing and keep them ready by the end of April 2026,” he said.

Starting from the 2026–27 academic year, the Board will introduce activity-based internal assessments for all subjects. External exams will account for 80 marks, while 20 marks will be earmarked for the internal assessment. Furthermore, the Board will launch a new stream specialising in accountancy, commerce, and economics from the next academic year.
