Telugu TV channel anchor Swetcha Votarkar was found dead at her Jawahar Nagar home, within the limits of the Chikkadpally police station in Hyderabad. The journalist and news presenter with a prominent presence allegedly died by suicide, police said on Saturday.
Media reports suggest that Swetcha's body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the room. Police believe that it might be suicide, but they have not given up on other possibilities such as foul play. There was no suicide note found in the spot, although reports indicate she was under mental pressure. Her corpse has been transferred to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem test to confirm the actual cause of death.
Swetcha was a well-known personality in the Telugu television industry, hosting shows that focused on people's issues and societal problems. She was active on social media, where she interacted with her viewers on a constant basis. According to reports, she had shared an emotional post only a few hours prior to her demise, although the police have not confirmed its contents as yet.

Police have lodged a case and are investigating all aspects ranging from personal to professional stress, and foul play if any. Forensic inputs, post-mortem examination and CCTV footage will reveal more about the circumstances of her death. More information is awaited as the investigation goes on.
