The construction of a temporary bridge over the Alaknanda River at Govind Ghat in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district has been successfully completed.
The bridge connects Pulna village to Hemkund Sahib and was built on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Recently, a landslide damaged the original bridge, blocking access to Pulna village and Hemkund Sahib, making travel difficult for locals. In response, the Chief Minister ordered immediate action, and the temporary bridge was quickly completed.
Earlier, on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised CM Dhami during his visit to Uttarkashi to promote winter tourism. After Dhami’s speech, PM Modi shook his hand and patted him on the back, recognising his leadership.

CM Dhami has received appreciation for his decisions, including implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and organising the National Games. PM Modi also praised the state’s Winter Tourism initiative, calling it an innovative step to boost Uttarakhand’s economy.
This year, the Uttarakhand government launched the Winter Tourism programme, attracting thousands of devotees to the winter sites of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The initiative aims to promote religious tourism and support local businesses, including homestays and tourism services.
