The Punjab Police on Thursday announced that it had uncovered an ISI-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module, leading to the arrest of two individuals.
During the operation, authorities recovered five hand grenades, two detonators, and material used for assembling an improvised explosive device (IED). According to police officials, the seized items point to plans for carrying out high-impact attacks intended to disrupt peace in the state.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that in a significant breakthrough, teams from District Amritsar Rural, District Gurdaspur, and SSOC Amritsar, working jointly with central agencies, dismantled the ISI-sponsored BKI module allegedly operated by a foreign-based handler and apprehended two suspects.
He further detailed the recoveries, which included five hand grenades, two specialized detonators, a PTT timer equipped with coder and decoder, a 9V battery, IED material consisting of one kilogram of high explosives packed with nails, and a Baofeng walkie-talkie along with a cable and trigger mechanism—indicating preparations for major attacks aimed at disturbing public order.
An FIR has been registered under relevant provisions of the Explosive Substances Act. Further investigation is ongoing to trace both forward and backward linkages, including connections to foreign handlers and any local support networks, Yadav added.
