An incident of anger over being woken from sleep turned into a horrifying tragedy in Raghunathpur village under Suti Police Station, Murshidabad, where a 21-year-old man attacked four young girls, leaving three dead and one critically injured. The accused has been identified as Golam Sarwar, also known as Badsha.

One child was declared dead shortly after arrival, while two others later succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The fourth child remains in critical condition and has been shifted from Jangipur Sub-divisional Hospital to Berhampore Medical College for advanced care.
