Three individuals lost their lives and two others suffered serious injuries after a speeding car hit a stationary truck at Dadour near Nerchowk in Mandi district late on Monday night, police said on Tuesday.
There were five persons in the car when the accident happened. Three were declared dead at the hospital, while the two injured have been referred to AIIMS Bilaspur for further treatment.
The deceased had been identified as Anil Kumar (28), Rohit Kumar (26) and Subash Kumar (23), all residents of Mandi district. The injured have been identified as Harish and Pankaj.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of law and further probe is underway, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Mandi Vinod Kumar.
He said the bodies were handed over to the next of kin of the deceased.
In his statement, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu mourned the loss of three lives and asked the district administration to provide proper medical care to the injured, wishing them a speedy recovery.
