At least three people were killed and six others injured after a falling boulder struck a passenger bus and a house in separate accidents in Doda district, officials said on Monday.
In the first incident, a massive rock rolled down a hillock near Raggi Nallah along the Jammu-Kishtwar National Highway around 9:30 am, hitting a passenger bus amid incessant rains in the region.
A quick rescue operation was launched, and seven injured persons were shifted to a nearby hospital, where one victim, identified as Manish Kumar, was declared dead on arrival.
One more unidentified body was recovered from the vehicle. Efforts are underway to establish the identity of the deceased. The highway remained blocked as some other vehicles were also hit by debris, though no one else suffered injuries in the accident.
In the second incident, a woman named Shiv Devi was killed after she was hit by a shooting stone at her house in the Kashtigarh area of the district. Her house also suffered damage in the incident.
This takes the total number of people killed in weather-related incidents across Jammu to 14, with eight missing and dozens injured over the past 24 hours.
