Dola Sen, a member of the All India Trinamool Congress fact-finding team, interacts with correspondents and alleged victims of post-poll violence during a visit to affected areas in West Bengal on Saturday.

The All India Trinamool Congress on Saturday said its fact-finding teams had visited several areas in three districts of West Bengal where party workers were allegedly attacked in post-poll violence.

The party constituted three teams to visit South 24 Parganas, Purba Medinipur and Hooghly districts to gather ground reports from workers and supporters who allegedly faced attacks after the party’s electoral setback in the recently concluded Assembly elections.

Of the 294 Assembly seats in the state, the party managed to win only 80.

Speaking to reporters, Rajya Sabha MP Dola Sen said one of the teams, including herself, was visiting Moyna, Tamluk and Haldia in Purba Medinipur district to meet “victimised” party workers and their families.

“Our workers, common people and supporters are being subjected to atrocities in several places after the poll verdict. Many people have been forced to flee their homes. Houses have been vandalised, and several party offices remain shut,” Sen alleged.

She said the fact-finding teams were formed on the instructions of party supremo Mamata Banerjee.

One team visited violence-affected areas in South 24 Parganas district, while another toured Hooghly district.

“We are trying to reach out to those who have been attacked and displaced so that we can stand by them and listen to their grievances,” Sen said.

The Calcutta High Court on Thursday directed the West Bengal government to “strictly maintain law and order at the ground level” following allegations of widespread post-poll violence.

The court also directed the police to ensure the safety of those who fled their homes fearing post-poll violence and facilitate their safe return irrespective of political affiliations.

Sen said the party hoped the high court’s order would be implemented.

In a post on X, the TMC said its teams were visiting the districts to assess the situation and meet violence-affected families.

“The pain in her voice and the grief in her tears bear chilling testimony to the inhumane torture unleashed by BJP-backed goons,” the party alleged in one of its posts while sharing a video of a woman narrating her ordeal.

The authenticity of the video could not be independently verified.

The party also alleged that its workers in Moyna, Tamluk and Haldia were subjected to intimidation and violence while accusing police and central forces of inaction.
