Ahead of the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly Election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday stepped up the BJP’s campaign in South 24 Parganas, addressing a large rally at Tongtala ground in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas,  after concluding an earlier meeting in Panihati.

Campaigning in support of BJP candidates from the Jadavpur and Joynagar organisational districts, Modi launched a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). Adopting an aggressive tone, he warned that “after the results on May 4, Trinamool’s goons will have nowhere to hide,” describing it as his “Modi ki Guarantee.” He added that if voted to power, the BJP would investigate alleged corruption over the past 15 years, stating that “every file will be opened and the guilty will be punished.”

The Prime Minister also raised concerns over women’s safety, alleging that the current government operates with an “anti-women mindset,”.  He expressed confidence that women voters would play a decisive role in bringing about political change.

On governance, Modi accused the TMC regime of fostering lawlessness and corruption, calling it “Mahajangalraj.” He alleged that the administrative machinery has been reduced to a “servant of the party,” and claimed that law and order in the state has deteriorated significantly.

Addressing voters directly, Modi said, “A single vote will not just change the government, it will shape Bengal’s future,” promising development, security, and good governance under a BJP administration. He also cited the high turnout in the first phase of polling, claiming it reflected a strong desire for change among the electorate.

The rally saw a large turnout of BJP workers and supporters, with party flags and slogans dominating the venue. Modi acknowledged the crowd, thanking them for their participation and enthusiasm.

Political observers say the Baruipur rally is significant for strengthening the BJP’s organisational presence in the Jadavpur and Joynagar regions. With the second phase of polling approaching, the high-voltage campaign by the party’s top leadership is expected to further intensify the electoral contest in the state.
