Tamil Nadu BJP chief Nainar Nagenthiran has condemned posters that depict him in a manner that compares him to the Hindu deity Lord Ram. In a post on X, Nagenthiran urged party workers to refrain from releasing such images, emphasising that he holds a firm conviction that "divine power can never, and should never, be equated with humans."

Nagenthiran's statement was prompted by certain posters that were displayed during a 'Booth Karyakarta Sammelan' in Tirunelveli on Friday. Recalling his long-standing reverence for the deity, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader cited his previous actions of raising objections to remarks against both Lord Ram and Andaal Thaayar. He wrote, "During the discussions on the Sethusamudram issue, when inappropriate remarks were made about Bhagawan Sri Ramar, I was the one who registered my strong objections on the floor of the Legislative Assembly itself. Likewise, when unwarranted statements were made about Andaal Thaayar, I was the one to raise my voice in her defense at the very outset."

Given his devotion, Nagenthiran said that he "strongly disapproves of such portrayals" and condemned the release of the images. He asked the party workers to refrain from such acts.

The incident took place during a BJP event in Tirunelveli, which was led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. During his address at the rally, Shah accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin of engaging in "black deeds" and labelled the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government as the "most corrupt."

Shah's comments were made in the context of the Opposition's protests over the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill introduced by the Centre. He questioned the Opposition’s protest, stating, "If any CM or Prime Minister goes to jail, they will have to resign from their post. The opposition is asking, 'What is the need for this bill?' Senior DMK ministers K Ponmudy and Senthil Balaji were in jail for eight months. They did not resign." He then said, "These DMK people call the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill a black bill. Stalin Babu, you have no right to call this bill a black bill because you are a Chief Minister who does black deeds."

In his address, Nagenthiran echoed Shah’s sentiments, criticising MK Stalin and referring to his government as the "Disaster Model" rather than the "Dravidian Model" that the Chief Minister often promotes.
