As temperatures continue to rise across the northern plains, many tourists are heading to the cooler places of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh. Popular destinations such as Dalhousie and Khajjiar, known as the "Mini Switzerland of India," are seeing a steady increase in visitors looking to escape the summer heat.

One of the key attractions drawing tourists and devotees is the Mata Pohlani (Kali Mata) Temple, located in the scenic hills near Dalhousie. Reaching the temple involves a trek of around two kilometres, making it a favourite spot for both pilgrims and nature lovers.

Visitors say the walk to the shrine is as rewarding as the destination itself. The route passes through green meadows, towering deodar forests and flower-covered hills, offering stunning views at every turn.

The area is currently bursting with colour as wildflowers bloom across the landscape. Shades of red, yellow and white can be seen spread across the hillsides, enhancing the beauty of the region.

A devotee visiting the temple said that offering prayers at the shrine brought a sense of peace and happiness. The pleasant weather and flower-covered slopes made the visit even more special, creating an experience that felt almost magical.

Another tourist said the cool mountain air provided much-needed relief from the scorching temperatures in the plains. According to the visitor, the greenery and colourful flowers along the trail made the journey unforgettable.

Because of the large number of blooming flowers, many locals have started calling the area a seasonal "Valley of Flowers." The natural beauty has become a major attraction for visitors during this time of the year.

Adding to the spiritual atmosphere is a community feast, or Bhandara, organised by Air Force personnel at the temple. The event has become an important part of the annual celebrations and is being held for the fifth consecutive year.

Volunteers involved in the Bhandara said they feel honoured to serve devotees visiting the shrine. Hundreds of people have taken part in the feast and expressed appreciation for the efforts of the organisers.

Tourists and devotees have encouraged people from across the country to visit Mata Pohlani Temple, seek blessings and enjoy the breathtaking natural beauty of the region, which is currently at its most vibrant.
