A family who for two years had been living in Bengaluru has opted to leave the city, accusing Bengaluru's polluted air of worsening their health. They released a video and justified their decision, which has led to a controversy on social media. Aswin, 27, who is a corporate professional, and Aparna, 27, is an entrepreneur, shared the video on Instagram about why they were moving out of Bengaluru. However, they loved its weather, and the people around.
They claimed that they had no issues with the city vibe except for the one thing that continued to make them ill: the air. In the viral clip, the couple began with a dramatic line: "You may despise us, but Bengaluru is gradually killing us."
They said that with time, they started falling sick frequently. "I developed breathing problems and allergies," Aswin said. "And I, who do not even get a cold, am coughing and sneezing throughout," Aparna said.

The family members said that they have changed their lifestyle and opted for healthy food and exercise, their health deteriorates. It was then when they started monitoring the Air Quality Index in the city.
"People tell us Bengaluru has lovely air and wonderful weather, but does it actually?" Aparna asked. In February, the AQI supposedly touched 297, which is rated as "very unhealthy" and dangerously near "hazardous". For the couple, this was an eye-opener.
"Namma Bengaluru is great. Even to start a business, it's the best city to be in. But we had to make this decision as fast as possible. Before the city could drown us in it, we moved out of Bengaluru," they clarified in the video. Although their work and social network have been based in Bengaluru, they said that their health was important.
The video, which has received close to 1 million views as of now, has caused an uproar. Some users were in favour of the couple's argument, but all were not in favour of the couple's choice. Some users blamed them for adding to the city's population before criticising it.
"Thank you for leaving. Makes the air that much fresher for the rest of us," posted one user.

"Please go away, Bengaluru was perfect before individuals began relocating here for work and congesting the city. And the area you're referring to as Bangalore is not even Bangalore, it's an extension added to accommodate the crowd over time. Do try visiting the real Bangalore," another person suggested. Others defended the couple, though.
