West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday exuded confidence in her party’s electoral prospects, asserting that the Trinamool Congress would return to power with a decisive mandate, regardless of exit poll predictions.

Casting her vote at Mitra Institution in the afternoon, the Trinamool supremo flashed a victory sign and said, “No matter what the exit polls say, Trinamool is winning.” She further claimed that her party would secure a two-thirds majority in the ongoing West Bengal Assembly election.

Speaking to the media before voting, Mamata remarked that the current electoral process was unlike any she had witnessed in decades of political life. “I have been witnessing elections since 1984, but I have never seen an election like this. Through the media, attempts are being made to create an impression that they are winning. In reality, that is not the case. We are the ones winning,” she said.

The Chief Minister also raised serious allegations against central forces deployed during polling. She expressed “extreme indignation,” accusing them of excesses and bias. “Such atrocities are being committed—from Kalighat to Bhawanipur—you cannot even imagine the extent of what they are doing and not doing,” she alleged.

Mamata further claimed that Trinamool workers were being targeted across several regions, including Ranaghat, Kalyani, Arambagh, Khanakul, Goghat, and Canning. “Everywhere, our workers are being arrested. Is this what you call a free and fair election?” she questioned.

Alleging widespread intimidation, she said polling agents were being forcibly removed and accused the forces of acting on behalf of a particular political party. “There are complaints of women and children being beaten indiscriminately,” Mamata added.

The allegations come amid reports of heightened tensions in several constituencies during the polling phase, with political parties trading accusations over the conduct of security forces and the fairness of the electoral process.
